Frequently Asked Questions

  • Definitely! Research shows virtual therapy is just as effective as in person visits and in my experience, clients are more consistent with treatment without the hassle of drive time, time off work or babysitters. A couple things to help facilitate the best virtual appointment include a reliable internet connection, a quiet space and using headphones.

  • During our first therapy session, we review the main concerns that brings you to therapy and your history. We may go over information such as how long you’ve experienced the concern or symptoms, their intensity and do they interrupt your day to day life? By the end of the session, we will have outlined some goals for therapy and reviewed a coping strategy to try until the next visit. It’s normally during the second session that I will show you specific steps you can take to reach those goals.

  • I meet with clients typically weekly and biweekly to start. Each session lasts the duration of the appointment time you scheduled with most sessions being 50-55 minutes. This consistency maximizes the impact of the work and allows us to make legitimate progress toward your goals.

The total duration of your treatment is up to you! Some people come for a “tune up” type of experience. They only want/need a handful of sessions and feel equipped to move on. Others prefer to dive in and do deeper work and those individuals may choose to commit to longer periods of time.

  • I am in network with Aetna, BCBS, Optum/United Healthcare and Cigna. If you would like to use your insurance, I will run your insurance to verify your anticipated payment. Although, I attempt to understand your insurance requirements and fees, it is your responsibility to ask your insurance about expected fees for routine outpatient behavioral health services if you are concerned about finances and/or if you do not know the details of your insurance.
