EMDR Intensives

An EMDR intensive is a premium therapy service designed for those who want symptom relief and treatment results faster. Unlike the traditional model of weekly therapy sessions, the intensive model combines multiple weekly sessions that occurs over months into a few hours or days. Intensives are personalized to your specific concerns and give you the opportunity to skip the waitlist, getting quicker access to select appointments that support your scheduling needs.

Is an EMDR Intensive right for me?

EMDR therapy helps us work through uncomfortable memories, thoughts, feelings and beliefs that surface day to day and allows the brain to resume its natural healing process. When working intensely through multiple hour or day sessions, single event traumas such as a car accident or common themes of distress are addressed in a more succient and focused way.

Intensives are great for those who:

  • Have been meaning to get into weekly therapy for a while now, but their schedule has been so hectic and demanding that a weekly therapy appointment feels more overwhelming than supportive.

  • Need help —- and a lot of it—- right now, they don’t want to spend months in the traditional weekly model of therapy treatment to feel better.

  • Need more efficient support as a busy parent or a working professional who has too much on their plate

  • Are limited on time to address a particular need such as a trip, holidays with family, divorce or a court date.

  • Are someone who just prefers to work intensively without the repeated “checking in” that comes with weekly therapy.

What does EMDR Intensive include:

  • A thorough pre-assessment to ensure readiness and treatment planning

  • A 21-page EMDR Intensive Handbook including preparation and assessments to expedite treatment

  • Guidance on what to expect and how to make the most of your sessions

    • A 25% deposit will be required to confirm your Intensive reservation, and the remaining 75% will be paid on the first day of the Intensive.  Intensive therapy is a financial investment in you and your future. Intensives are highly concentrated and as a result, are often more cost effective than ongoing weekly therapy costs.

    • Payment: All major credit cards, HSA payments, cash, and checks are accepted.

  • No. EMDR Intensives are not covered by the majority of insurance providers due to the extended nature of the service.

  • EMDR Intensives versus weekly therapy sessions are not an equal comparison. Typically with talk therapy, you are seen weekly for an extended period of time, sometimes years. When you compare the cost of that scenario to EMDR Intensives over a much shorter time period, it is actually a cost savings.

An intensive format may decrease overall treatment time because of time not spent on:

    • checking in at the beginning of each session,

    • addressing current crises and concerns,

    • focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that you won’t need after healing, or

    • assisting you in regaining composure at the end of each session.

  • If something comes up and you are unable to attend your intensive, please contact me no later than 7 days before your Intensive to discuss rescheduling.  Rescheduling will not affect your deposit or payment as long as rescheduling is scheduled within 30 days.  If you need to cancel your intensive entirely, you will lose your deposit.

  • No. One of the many benefits about Intensives is that since the work is concentrated into several hours or days, rather than an ongoing weekly basis, clients can travel to Houston, TX if they wish OR we can meet virtually through an secure online platform.
